The new villagevoice.com took inspiration from an unreleased print redesign of The Village Voice, completed in early 2017 with Luke Hayman of the design firm Pentagram, featuring a revised logo and a return to the larger newsprint format of the Voice of the 1970s and 1980s.

Honorees included journalist Masha Gessen, activist Gavin Grimm, equality advocate Edie Windsor, and organizer DeRay Mckesson.
